Dual RPG's!?

Working on the next weapon type for my game. I'm in the mood for larger arenas and Serious Sam-esque shootouts. I feel like there's a lot of retro FPS games that try to emulate Quake, and it was also my idea aswell, but I've currently thought about distancing myself from that mindset and focusing on large open levels with big combat and bigger guns.
